This component displays a view of a list as a drop-down select control with a button that allows you to navigate to the item quickly.

 

One of the nice things about this web part is that it allows cross-site access within the current site collection. I use it to create phone lists from the standard Contacts list, since it can provide a quick summary of phone numbers or email addresses. Note that it provides a very compact way to display information.
